Clinton Street Baking Company

Okay, I know that Clinton Street Baking is a well known spot, it has been featured on the Food Network. Like the Dip, it frequently has a 1.5 hour wait, however, going for a late brunch on Thursday with a 5 minute wait (is that even a wait, really?). All I can say is YUM. My friend ordered the vanilla waffles, covered in strawberries and whipped cream it looked awesome. I had been torn between the blueberry pancakes, the banana walnut pancakes and the french toast. After expressing my indecisiveness to the waitress, she suggested the banana walnut.
THEY WERE AWESOME!!! Soo good, fluffy and light but still filling. And so many walnuts.
While dropping a 20 for a coffee and 3 pancakes (LARGE) is not something I can do too often, I will be back!
Most yelpers gave it good reviews...and the bad reviewers seemed to have made bad ordering choices or were just miserable people.
Side note:Perhaps b/c I work at a restaurant I'm biased. However, when people get angry that a restaurant has a wait and decide the food isnt worth it. YOU decided to wait a long time for an arepa, pancake or hot chocolate-because so many other people wanted it too. It's not like restaurants just want to starve you.

I have gotten lazy with the blogging. I even attempted to start a whole new blog-and failed to get past the first post *shrugs*.

Gif the Great, Anti and Willy Dope are Par-City and they are flipping the rap game around and bringing it up to Par. These Bronx natives took over the internet in back in April when they dropped their last mix-tape Held Over: The Hold Up Part 2, and are sure to do it again this month when they drop their latest mixtape Back 2 The Basement on the 7th.

In March, they were the first Hip-Hop group to perform at Kenny's Castaways, a venue known for hosting legends like Aerosmith, Patti Smith and Bruce Springstein (He performed his first NYC gig there!) . Recently, they opened for Slick RIck at the Brooklyn Knitting Factory, and will perform there with Ice-T on 9/11.

Take that Cookie and Stuff up your....Yeah

Limp Bizkit's newest track "Why Try" seems a befitting title, as in "Why Try to come back?"
Seriously, is that all the music scene has to offer? Teen sensations from the 80s and 90s trying to resurface with recycled versions of their old hits? "Why Try" has been compared to their other huge hit "Nookie".
I suppose it demonstrates a similar amount of talent and "deep lyrics" but its less appealing to me than Nookie, which truth be told, was only appealing to me because I was a 14-year-old sell-out with a big-time crush on a Limp Bizkit Loving Skater Kid. But I am no longer 14, and I think most of the skater kids look like they need a good bath. The beginning of this song is literally painful to listen to, like nails on a chalk board. The only appeal for ME at all is that it sounds so 99...that despite it being from 2010, I feel like Im back in Freshman Yr.

To Quote the deep Durst Himself..."Take your shit Back, cuz all your shit's whack!"

New Year's Eve/Day is so overrated. For most of us, it is just another day to party or feel like a schmuck for not partying. It is a time for making resolutions we often have no intention of keeping.
"I'm going to lose 10 pounds!"
"I'm going to the gym every day!"
"I'm giving up smoking"
January 1 often marks the day that people start their diet. They eat salads, jog, go to the gym, trade their coffee in for green tea. It's the day they head to their local drug store stock up on Nicotine gum and patches, in attempt to kick the butt to the curb. By March, many of these people will have said "F**k it!" and light up "just once" or eaten chocolate cake. Treadmills and assorted fitness gadgets ("How the hell does this thing work anyway?") have begun starting to collect dust or become lost in the underworld beneath the bed or that "random stuff drawer" and guilt begins to set at teh realization that a resolution has been broken again.
Despite this, there is something about New Year's. While I am hardly the party girl and feel stressed and pressured to do something major on NYE, I do enjoy the concept of fresh start. Technically, every day is a fresh start, as Anne Shirley would say "Tommorow is Fresh w/ no mistakes in it!" But still having a date and time table to achieve certain goals in.
I guess my goal for 2010 is to gain some direction. Not just in my career aspirations,, but in general.I need to figure out : What do I want? And How to get it. Oh, and I need to allow myself to believe that I am able and deserving to get it.
So welcome 2010, Here's looking at you, Kid.

Star of the Week

The Associated Press recently ran a story on a homeless girl living in a Wal-mart parking lot who recently obtained an internship at Elle Magazine. In an interview with Mediaite.com she denies that she is being exploited by the fashion magazine, insisting that she has been given a great opportunity. Rather than harp on the fact that she is getting paid 150/month for 24 hrs of work, she points out that interns usually don't get paid at all and that the editor is doing her a great service by giving her special hours and commuting time.
Kudos to her for the positivity and the ambition.
Reminds me of a younger-childless version of the Pursuit of Happyness.
If she can still be ambitious, then there is no excuse for the rest of us. (Specifically me)
